Safety doesn’t happen by accident; it is literally in your hands every time you get behind the wheel. That’s the message members of the Cape Breton Regional Police want to reinforce during your Thanksgiving weekend travel.
Officers will be conducting extra checkpoints and increasing enforcement over this long weekend – October 11 to 14 – a time when police tend to see an increase in traffic and want to help ensure roadways are safe. It’s part of Operation Impact, a national road safety initiative of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, to promote safe driving behaviors.
Police want to remind drivers that your decisions have impact, and to choose safety when you get behind the wheel: drive sober, alert, without distractions, within speed limits and wearing a seatbelt.
Enjoy a safe holiday weekend!
