Police original arrested Christmas on the ice in the middle of Blacketts Lake, in the early morning hours of February 18th, after responding to reports of a suspicious person in the area. Upon arrival, police noticed foot prints in the snow starting behind Stones R.V. and heading down Blacketts Lake Road to a driveway at 22 and a vehicle. Police then learned of reports of a male going through yards in the Edgewater Drive area, where a man was reported to have started crossing the ice on Blacketts Lake towards Spanish River Crescent.

With the assistance of the K-9 Unit, police tracked Christmas across to the other side of Blacketts Lake on Coxheath Road, in the driveway of 1725 Coxheath Road; when located, Christmas fled back onto the frozen lake, where police chased him down and arrested him.
