Police charge three in large marihuana operation

Three Sydney residents will appear in Provincial Court today to face drug production, possession and trafficking charges after police sized a large marihuana seizure from a Maloney Street residence Monday night, June 25th.
Members of the Cape Breton Regional Police Street Crime Unit executed two search warrants under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, seizing marihuana worth a street value of $15,000, THC products, prescription pills, firearms, ammunition, cash, scales and packaging, in addition to over 200 marihuana plants at various stages of growth. Officers estimate the plants totaled a potential yield of over $250,000.
51- and 48-year old males and a 46-year-old female were arrested at the scene and later charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Cannabis Marihuana and Cannabis Resin, and Production of Cannabis Marihuana and Cannabis Resin. The 51-year-old male and the female are also both charged with Possession of Oxycodone and Unsafe Storage of Ammunition; the 48-year-old male is also charged with Unsafe Storage of Firearms, Unsafe Storage of Ammunition and Resisting Arrest.
