Police charge man for trafficking after vehicle stop

July 22, 2013

The Cape Breton Regional Police Street Crime Unit stopped a vehicle on Welton Street in Sydney earlier today, seizing Hydromorphone and cash and arresting one male for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Hydromorphone.

He was released on a Promise to Appear in Sydney Provincial Court on October 7th to plea to the charges.

Police charge youth in connection to weapons threat at Mayflower Mall

A 15-year-old boy from the Boularderie area is appearing in Sydney Provincial Court this afternoon to face charges for threatening the use of explosives at the Mayflower Mall yesterday. The youth will be charged with Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Serious Bodily Harm (x2); Uttering Threats to Damage Property; Reporting false information to 9-11; and Mischief (x2).

Police investigating weapons threat

At approximately 1:00 PM, Cape Breton Regional Police - with assistance from Cape Breton Regional Fire Services and EHS - responded to the Mayflower Mall on a 9-1-1 call alleging that a male was to be inside carrying a handgun and wearing explosives that he threatened to detonate.

Vehicle rollover on bank near Dominion Beach

An 81-year-old Glace Bay man was taken to Cape Breton Regional Hospital after he accidentally drove his vehicle up on the bank of rocks at the end of Lower Mitchell Avenue in Dominion.
