Police were called to the scene of a 2-vehicle collision near the entrance to the NSLC, just after midnight; one vehicle was reported to have struck another as it was turning left off Gibbon Street into the NSLC parking lot, and then fled the scene. Police quickly located that vehicle a short distance away on Plummer Avenue, arresting the driver who showed signs of impairment. She was held in police custody overnight and charged with Operating a Vehicle While Impaired, Operating a Vehicle with over .08 and Failing to Remain at the Scene of an Accident. She was released this morning on a Promise to Appear in Sydney Provincial Court on August 14th.

The driver of the second vehicle, an 18-year-old Scotchtown male, was taken to hospital in Glace Bay to be treated for minor injuries .
