Cape Breton Regional Police have charged Robert Blair MacKinnon with Arson, Break and Enter and Uttering Threats.

Police originally responded to reports of the fire at approximately 10:30 PM on March 20th. Upon arrival, Police and Fire Services discovered a fire in one apartment of a 4-unit building; the apartment was vacant at the time of the fire, and the other residents of the building were able to vacate the building. No one was injured.

The fire was deemed suspicious; through the course of an investigation, led by the CBRPS Arson Investigator, police were able to connect MacKinnon to the fire and arrested him, without incident, during the evening June 12th. MacKinnon was held in police custody for continued investigation and until his scheduled Court appearance today.
