Police were called to reports of a robbery in progress at approximately 2:40 PM on August 1st, where a male suspect with his face partly covered handed the pharmacy clerk a note demanding drugs and advising he was armed. Upon arrival, police observed a male at the pharmacy counter; customers were moved from the rear of the store and police arrested the man without incident. There were no injuries.
Members of the Major Crime and Forensic Identification Units assisted with the investigation. Dana Alexander Smith was remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre today, charged with: Attempted Robbery with a Weapon, Wearing a Disguise while Committing an Indictable Offense, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Breach of Probation.
